If your considering something that is more secluded and away from the party scene, the Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island is where you want to be. To get here, you need to either take the ferry or a private chartered boat to the island, which drops you off on the beach right in front of the hotel.
When arriving, you are greeted with a heartfelt welcome and are brought to the registration area to check in. A refreshing fruity welcome drink is brought to you while you lounge on comfy seats and check in.
Once checked in, you are shown to your hotel room, which are all quaint little villas spread across the resort. Our villa was set near the end of the resort, which was lovely since we were away from the noise the restaurants and entertainment. Since we were only here for a few nights, we made the most of our trip and headed out straight away, spending as little time as possible in the room (as lovely at it was!).
There is a picturesque walk you can take, which brings you up to the top of the mountain. Once at the top, you’ll notice a large screen for their outdoor cinema, a lookout area to watch the sun set as well as a bar. We made it just in time to unwind and watch the sunset with a cocktail. Since countless newlyweds came here for their honeymoon, there is a ‘love garden’ where you can plant a tree with your details on it and when you came back, you could see how much the tree had matured.
After sunset, we made our way down to the beach and enjoyed a few more drinks. You could buy bottled beverages at the convenience store onsite, and drink them on the beach, which was more inexpensive than drinking at the bar (if your on a budget).
Our next day was yet again another relaxing day. We spent most of the day by the infinity pool that was just below our villa. In between tanning and the pool, we headed over to the spa for cheap massages. Even at the resort, the massages were reasonably priced and well worth very dollar spent.
We took two separate excursions on a traditional long boat with one of the local kids who showed us around the different Islands and beaches. It was perfect because he brought us to all the popular areas before they got busy, which meant we got to appreciate what each beautiful beach had to offer and snorkel without too many people around.
We also took advantage of a traditional Thai cooking class on our final day. It’s a wonderful private experience to do as a couple with only a chef to teach you. He showed us how to make traditional local dishes and we both had individual workstation so we could create the dishes as spicy as we wanted to suit our own tastes. Once we had finished creating our own dishes, we got to sit back and enjoy a romantic dinner for two, cooked by us.
This is such a remarkable hotel for couples. It’s quite and secluded from all the entertainment on the Island. The staff are approachable and the resort is spread out enough that it doesn’t feel crowded.
