Hobart was definitely a surprise visit. I had no idea what to expect, but the views, food and relaxed lifestyle have made me quickly fall in love with Hobart. We had checked out of our AirBnB early and had a few hours before heading to the airport. It was a beautiful sunny day, so thought we would check out Frogmore Creek Winery as we heard so many amazing things about it. We have definitely added this to the top of our ‘La Sposa Bella’ wedding venue location in Hobart as well!
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
Located only 20 minutes from Hobart, this well known winery offers everything from wine tasting, exceptional food and stunning views. Walking through the small front entrance, I was anticipating the space to be small with a tiny cellar door and a hand full of tables for dining. Opening the front door and I was blown away. You are greeted by the long tasting bar and dozens of fun little nic nacs available for purchase.
To the left is their stunning floor to ceiling dining room and dark wooden floors with views over the vineyard. Straight past the bar is a large more casual dining space with brushed concrete floors and a private dining area.
Every space within the venue encourages you to sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of wine with stunning views. The tables are spread apart so that it doesn’t feel like you are listing to your neighbours conversation and the floor to ceilings windows bring so much natural light into the space.
When we arrived, we weren’t overly hungry, so decided to do a quick wine tasting and then sit outside and bask in the sun with a glass of delicious wine. The views are absolutely breathtaking with the vineyards just a short stroll away.
The service was exception from every staff member we dealt with. From the lady who took pride in explaining the wines during our tasting, to the flawless service while we ate, we were truly looked after every moment we were there.
FOOD
If the views aren’t stunning enough, the food was not only delicious, but the presentation and design of each dish was exceptional. The awards are endless for the team here at Frogmore Creek, and it was no surprise why! By the time we sat down to eat, we still weren’t too hungry, but knew we had to try something before heading back to the airport. Everything on the menu sounded amazing, making the decision very difficult.
I decided to order the ‘Steak Tartare’ with confit egg yolk, gribiche, potato crisps and truffle mayonnaise. Presentation was incredible and was almost too beautiful to eat. The steak was well seasoned and paired with the crisps and truffle mayo, this was a knock out of the park for me.
MC ordered the ‘Grilled Octopus’ served with crispy bacon, seasoned rice and potato. Again, I was in awe with the dish that was presented. It was colourful and well executed to make it not only delicious but also visually appealing.
I’m so glad we checked out of our room early and were able to head down to Frogmore Creek. There are very few restaurants that tick all the boxes for us, however this is truly a memorable place that I will continue to visit each time we return to Hobart.
