I had an appointment on High Street, and as I walked back to my car, I noticed I had parked across the street from ‘From On High’. I actually had this little gem on my list of places to visit, so was pleasantly surprised when I realised it was right in front of me.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
Located along the quiet end of High Street, this small cafe is where you would find the locals enjoyed a hot cup of coffee, a delicious meal or catching up with friends. It was around mid-day when I arrived (mid week), and with no one else seated, I had free range of any table along the wall of the cafe. It was noted that there was a second seating space, however I didn’t get the chance to check it out.
The front of the cafe has beautiful floor to ceiling bi-fold windows, which let in so much natural light. Wooden floors, and cafes style tables and chairs fill the space, with a generous size coffee bar. Behind the bar, you will find a stunning green ‘From on High’ mural.
As I was the only table seated for most of my lunch, the service was attentive and friendly. My coffee was made as soon as I ordered and within a short time my food arrived.
FOOD
Since it was around mid-day when I arrived, I was torn between ordering breakfast, or getting my afternoon boost from a super salad. With a menu adding hints of Middle Eastern cuisine, I decided at the last minute to go with a super salad.
Within no more than 10 minutes of ordering, out came my ‘Super Salad’ consisting of roasted pumpkin, asparagus, avo, fresh pea & mint puree, crisp Tuscan kale, shaved beetroot, pomegranate, pickled red onion, pepitas & sunflower seeds with some added grilled haloumi. I loved how all the flavours worked so well with each other and there was nothing that was too over powering.
Overall, I had a great spur of the moment lunch here. The food was delicious and fresh, the service was attentive, and I loved that I was able to enjoy some much needed ‘me’ time with no one else around.
