Post Tuesday Yoga, and I was after something close to the studio that was quiet with good coffee. Bertha Cafe is located directly across from Chelsea Train Station, with a steady flow to customers grabbing a coffee from their take away window.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
Their indoor space is cosy with only a hand full of simple cafe tables. The decor of the space is black and white walls, with vintage accents throughout. Old nic nacs are placed throughout the space and a large mirror wall sits opposite the coffee bar to create the feel of a larger space.
The service was friendly and attentive from both waitresses who took my order and brought out my coffee and breakfast.
FOOD
The menu here is quite small, however does cater for vegetarians and vegans and with the selection available, there is most certainly something delicious that will catch your eye. I loved how the menus were inside old paperback novels, which was a lovely touch to the overall style of the cafe.
I originally came here with every intent of ordering something healthy, until I saw the banana waffles. So of course, my work out went out the window and I ordered the ‘Caramelised Banana Waffles’ with whipped cream & fresh berries. Three cute little waffles came out, drizzled with caramel and topped with banana. Let’s just say I indulged and there wasn’t any left!
Overall, this was a great little find for a quick and simple brekky. It’s nothing over the top, which is nice change from the Melbourne brekky scene and the atmosphere makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
