This is a regular stop for us on our monthly visits to Queensland. Finding things to do with a youngster is a challenge (especially in the cooler months when the beach just isn’t an option). If you visit as much as we do, then a yearly pass is the way to go! At $60 a pop for adults and $35 for kiddies under 14, it does quickly become an expensive afternoon!
If you are visiting with young children, it’s definitely worth spending a few extra dollars and hiring a cart for the kiddies to sit in. It’s a great way to keep them happy and doesn’t tire them out from walking around the entire park (or you having to carry them the whole time).
Two of our favourite live interactive shows are the ‘Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors’ show at noon and the ‘Elephants Live’ at 1pm. The staff put on an amazing show for the Wildlife Warriors and involve the audience as much as possible, which is fantastic! After the show make your way to the Elephants where you have the chance to hear about their daily routines and also have the chance to feed these beautiful creatures.
I’d recommend packing a lunch instead of spending a small fortune on lunch. There a several areas around the park where you can stop for lunch and rest your feet for a bit before making your way through the rest of the park.
Australia Zoo have found several ways to get you involved with helping the animals, if that’s something that’s of interest to you. Adopting an animal is a great way to show your support to these beautiful creatures & you get the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped save the life/lives of endangered animals.
