I love finding amazing cafes that are hidden down back roads away from the hustle and bustle. I had a few errands to run in Cheltenham, and stumbled across Frank’s, located a short drive from Southland Shopping Centre. Frank’s is relatively new to the cafe scene, but locals have quickly come to love everything this modern venue has to offer.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
The interior is spacious and refreshing, with gorgeous timber tables, contrasting timber and tiled walls, and hints of black accents throughout. This is the perfect locations for those with little ones, as the tables are set far enough apart that it’s easy to maneuvre through without hitting the person next to you. Tables flow around the open concept kitchen and coffee bar, with large bay windows letting in loads of natural lighting.
The service was friendly and attentive from all the staff. We were greeted with a smile and quickly brought to our table. Menus were presented along with colouring pencils and a kiddie menu to keep our little one busy.
FOOD
The menu here focuses on fresh seasonal ingredients, playing off both French and Asian fusion. In addition to their amazing menu, a variety of delicious homemade cakes and pastries are on display at the coffee bar.
For brekky I decided to order the ‘Porridge’ served with The Staple Store oats and gingerbread crumble, blackberry compote, and Prana Chai chai milk served on the side. Presentation was stunning and it definitely tasted as good as it looked! The chai milk added a wonderful creaminess to the oats and absolutely loved the gingerbread crumble for that sweet element.
Overall this was a great little find for us this morning. The service, atmosphere and food were all top notch with nothing to fault. I love finding amazing little neighbourhood gems that are busy, without becoming the typical Melbourne cafe where you wait ages for a table.
