If you are traveling along the east coast of Australia, Byron Bay should be on the top of your list of places to stop. A vibrant scene of cafes, restaurant, pubs and shops line the streets, and five star accommodation are by the dozen. Or, if your looking for something a bit more laid back, Byron Bay is full of private house rentals and hostels for every budget.
Our first stop was to the iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse. The drive in itself is breathtaking, but when you arrive at the top it’s something completely surreal. You can either take the scenic walk up the mountain, or you can drive if you aren’t up for the hike. Once you get to the car park, make your way over to the observation area (in the opposite directly of the lighthouse) to see one of the most beautiful views you will ever see. Take a few snaps and then make your way up to the lighthouse for an even better view of the surrounding area and coast line.
Any of the beaches you visit here will be over the top with beauty. We made a quick stop at Belongil Beach, where the beach itself wasn’t overly busy, however the water was full of surfers, which was amazing to watch.
Overall, Byron Bay has a very relaxed, chilled out vibe with some great restaurants, cafes and shops. The beaches are some of the most beautiful in Australia and is a must see place when traveling along the East Coast.
