Tall Timber has always been on my radar of places to try, especially with a line out the door, it must be good, right?! Our breakfast plans usually turn into brunch by the time we make our way out the door, so Tall Timber never seems to work for us due to the massive wait times. However this past Saturday, LC and I committed to getting up early and making it there for 8:30am.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
We had arrived just in time to beat the rush with only two tables left. We were quickly seated by one of the waiters and coffee orders taken straight away. The vibe of the space is very homey with beautiful white washed brick walls, high timber ceilings and exposed concert floors. It’s no surprise the space is fit out with timber all around including the tables and chairs and features around the bar area.
The overall space is very simple, clean and relaxed with minimal furnishings and decor, which works very well for the space. The large windows and the white walls make for a very bright and welcoming cafe. Combined with the amazing aroma of coffee and it’s a sure winner for me!
FOOD
This has to be one of the better breakfasts in Melbourne. I had an idea on what to expect from Tall Timber, and they definitely did not disappoint. The menu offers all your healthy dishes with their own modern, chic twist to them.
I’m a sucker for a good bircher muesli, and this was beyond good in my books. A bright pink pear perched up on a beautiful bed of shaved apple, pistachio, nuts and seeds was presented in front of me. Presentation got a solid ten as well as taste! All the flavours worked beautifully together and the stand out was the poached pear.
I watched as so many colourful and well presented dishes were brought out to other tables and has definitely left me wanting to come back for more. Everything from Eggs Benny with Slow Cooked Pork Shoulder to more simple items like their cabinet of delicious home baked goods are also available.
I think I may have found my new fav breakfast place (if I am able to get out of bed in time to avoid the que). This is a place that is definitely worth the wait, ticking all the boxes on food, service and atmosphere.
