Moving further down the coast, I was very much looking forward to Positano. The photo’s I’ve seen didn’t do the city justice. Making our way around narrow bends, we finally arrived in Positano. Our hotel, Eden Roc, was located down a narrow, winding road, further up on the cliff. This 4 star hotel overlooks the sea, and is a short 10 minute walk down to the beach and main shopping area.
With only 25 stunning rooms, offering two separate areas for total relaxation. Walking into our room, the space was bright with French doors opening onto our large balcony overlooking the sea and city of Positano. The rooms offer simple vintage decor, with Italian flair to match the atmosphere of Positano.
Walking into the room, you are first welcomed by the bed room area, followed by the lounge area with bright coloured chairs, wooden table and small TV. Our private balcony included tables and chairs as well as lounge chairs to sit back and relax in the evening sun.
The bathrooms are very spacious with double vanity sinks, heated towel racks, and Jacuzzi bath with overhead shower. The private Jacuzzi bath is perfect for unwinding after a long day of shopping and walking around taking in all that Positano has to offer.
Breakfast each morning is served in the dining room with a large selection of handmade fresh products. Everything from desserts made by the hotel pastry chef to eggs, cheese, meats, fruit, and the like can all be found on the oversized buffet.
We were heading out one night when we stopped at the wine bar for a quick drink, when we noticed they offered wine tasting each day from 5pm. With a hand full of white clothed tables in the bar, we took a seat near the window and were presented with the day’s wine tasting selection.
A sample of 3 glasses of wine are brought out (which you select), accompanied by cheese, breads and biscuits. There is a cost for the tasting, however is minimal compared to what you would pay for a glass of wine near the beach.
If you’re not up for a tasting, there are a range of different drinks available, including a large selection of premium grappa’s to try.
Moving outside the rooftop pool boasts stunning views of the sea, with sun beds, and a covered terrace area. The fresh water pool is perfect for an afternoon of cooling off in the Italian summer heat. Located on the same floor is the rooftop dining restaurant serving up authentic and delicious Italian dishes.
There is nothing better then stunning views from every part of the hotel, delicious food, wine tastings and an overwhelming breakfast to get the full experience of Positano. I would highly recommend the Eden Roc Hotel for their service, location and quality of food offered.
