As you all know, we love our spur of the moment getaways, and this time was no different. With sale fares to Singapore, we decided to spend a weekend in Singapore followed by Thailand for a few days with my family who have never been anywhere in Asia before. We wanted to treat them with somewhere nice that was out of the main Phuket area, however close enough that we could get a taxi for them to experience at least one night out in Patong. After a bit of research, we decided on The Naka Resort.
GUEST ROOMS
The NAKA Phuket offers 94 state of the art one, two and three bedroom pool villas and suites. The resort has won numerous design awards, from Thai architect Duangrit Bunnag working magic to create a stunning 5 star resort. Each villa is designed with simplicity in mind with steel frames, floor to ceiling wrap around windows, spacious living spaces, infinity pool and deck areas.
We had booked a two bedroom villa for the four of us to share, however upon arrival, we were upgraded to the beautiful 3 bedroom villa (526 square metres of space) which was spread across two floors with one bedroom and kitchen on the first floor and two bedrooms and pool on the upper level. Each room had teak wooden flooring, dark curtains and walls create a dramatic vibe. The amazing rain shower was separate from the toilet and dressing area giving privacy at each part of the villa.
The first bedroom on the first floor was the only bedroom without a balcony, however was a spacious room with adjoining bathroom/toilet area.
Walking up the narrow concrete stairs you are welcomed by the oversized private infinity pool with a luxurious bedroom on each side.
Both bedrooms on the upper level offered balconies to sit back and enjoy the sound of the ocean in total relaxation. The bedrooms on the upper level were much larger than the lower level, offering stunning views of the bay and cliff.
Plush bedding, full BOSE sound system and floor to ceiling windows wrap around the entire bedroom offering unobstructed views of the bay.
The doors along the side of the bedroom open up completely, offering an open concept between the bedroom and the pool area.
On the main floor a fully equipped kitchen is available. With a stove and microwave, you can either prepare your own meals, or order from the 24hr room service. Fridges throughout the villa including the bedrooms were fully stocked with water, beer and soft drinks, which were replenished daily.
POOL & BEACH
With a villa that has everything to offer, it may seem like you don’t need to venture out to the rest of the resort, however it’s definitely worth a little stroll. The small beach is completely private and only accessible by resort guests. The water is calm, warm and the sand is soft, however there are quite a few rocks washed ashore.
We didn’t see anyone swimming in the main pool (probably because everyone had their own pool) however it was well designed with ample decking around old palm trees. A separate lounge area is also available for those who prefer to unwind and enjoy the sea breeze on beanbag chairs or tree swings.
SPA & FITNESS
The Napa Spa is located on the 5th storey of the only tall tower on the complex. Showcasing a modern and contemporary fit-out, the space is your ultimate location to fully relax with unobstructed views of the ocean. The spa menu focuses on all aspects of the body from massages, wraps, scrubs and beauty treatments.
The fitness centre is located on the ground floor of the building with all state-of-the-art equipment including free weights, cardio equipment, weight machines plus sauna and steam room.
RESTAURANTS
The Naka has a variety of different dining options available to enjoy throughout your entire stay. From in room dinning, casual nibbles by the bar to stunning breakfasts, the options are endless!
- The Wiwa – all day dining restaurant located pool side. Offering classic Thai dishes as well as Western dishes for those not so adventurous. Open 7am – 11pm
- The Nana Beach Bar – All day casual dining located pool side. Open 8am – 10pm
- The Meka Sky Lounge – Healthy meals and drinks located sky high on the resorts highest point. Offers best panoramic views of the entire hotel, beach and Andaman Sea. Open 4pm – 11pm
One thing I was instantly drawn to was the amount of produce they grew directly onsite. A small greenhouse is located on the premises to grow items like lettuce, which are used in so many dishes.
With more than 17 acres of space, they have utilized every inch efficiently to create complete privacy for each villa, ability to grow produce onsite, all whilst offering stunning views of the sea. We absolutely fell in love with the views and amount of privacy we had during our stay. The staff were the highest level of friendly and professional you would expect and the rooms were beautiful. Definitely worth moving away from the hustle and bustle of Patong and experience something more luxurious.
