A weekend away for a wedding at the stunning Zonzo Estate, gave us a great excuse to check out what Yarra Valley had to offer for breakfast. We were staying near by in the quaint little town of Healesville, so was easy enough for us to wake up and walk to one of the local cafes for breakfast. We decided on Mocha & Lime, which was a short 5 minute walk from our Air B&B.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
Housed in the old Ford Dealership Building, this family owned and operated cafe is cosy and relaxing. With a wall full of second hand books available for purchase, colourful decor, and old furniture, the vibe brings you back to having breakfast at grandmas house.
The service was friendly from the woman who took our order at the counter, to the waiter who brought our coffee and food to the table. The only thing I could criticise would be the ventilation inside the cafe. It was very smoky and stuffy and all the windows had to be open to allow fresh air to come in.
FOOD
Simple home-style dishes fill the menu including bacon & eggs, muesli and French toast. Post wedding, coffee was definitely in order before we could think about food. Delicious coffee from award winning five senses was the perfect way to start our morning. Once we had our caffeine fix, it was time dig in to some delicious food.
MC went with the ‘Fry Up’, consisting of poached eggs, bacon, sausage, roadt tomato & homemade chutney on sourdough. The type of sausage changes weekly, adding a bit of variety for those of frequent the restaurant.
I went with the ‘Smashed Avocado’ served on sourdough. It was a simple dish, however was exactly what I needed on this particular morning.
Mocha & Lime offers a simple home cooked menu, with fantastic service and a cosy atmosphere. There isn’t much more you would want to start your Sunday on the right foot.
