Shambles Brewery

On a chilly Saturday afternoon, whilst in Hobart, we decided to make our own brewery tour and to start made our way to Shambles Brewery, located along Elizabeth Street. 

ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE

We arrived shortly before noon, to a warm fire, long communal wooden tables and a stunning (yet small) bar. There are two sections to the restaurant, the inside cosy space, plus their outdoor beer garden, both of which were utilised (even in the coldest of Hobart days!).

The bartender was friendly and attentive with giving MC a rundown on the beers, this way he could make a decision on where to start. 

Since we were the first to arrive, we had free range on pickings for our table. We decided closest to the fire would be ideal, this way we could enjoy a few drinks and warm up before moving on.

I loved the black walls, which created an industrial feel to the space with exposed lighting, concrete floors and a gorgeous wall which housed ample wood waiting to be burned. 

FOOD

With 10 craft beers on tap, MC was excited to make his way through the list by ordering a tasting paddle, perfect for sampling a few different beers.

As I’m not a beer lover, I decided to go with a glass of wine to enjoy by the fire. Once we had finished our first round, it was well after noon, which meant it was time for some bar snacks to go with our second round of drinks.

Since we had planned to eat something at each of the breweries we went to, we only went with a few small nibbles to get us by until we made it to the next place. That being said, we ordered the ‘Grilled Chorizo’ with pickles and bread, and the ‘Hot Marinated Olives’ served with warm bread. 

Overall, this was a great start to our brewery adventure. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and the food was tasty!
