The big surprise for the birthday girl was being swept away to Bali for 5 nights. We left from Perth, so the flight was just under 4 hours. Upon arriving at the airport, our hotel transfer took a while to find, however once we were seated in the air conditioned car, our holiday had finally begun.
We pulled up to the gorgeous Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort & Spa and everything from the checkin to the checkout was a step above and beyond what you would expect from any hotel. We were greeted with a welcome drink and enjoyed the incredible view as we checked in. The receptionist who checked us in also gave us a quick tour of the hotel, making our way up to our room, pointing out the breakfast location, pools, spa, gym and we finally ended at our room.
We walked into a stunningly decorated room with hints from the local culture. There was a separate changing area with build in robes and a make-up chair & table.
The bedroom area had a sitting area off to the side and outside boasted a beautiful view of the beach with a day bed and large spa to sit and watch the sunset. Absolutely magical! There is not one negative thing I can say about the rooms.
Breakfast was fantastic. The Wild Orchid restaurant is situated behind the infinity pool which overlooks the sea. Freshly squeezed juices followed by your choice of a buffet or made to order breakfast; the choice was yours each day. The Wild Orchid also offers an a la carte lunch and dinner, which we enjoyed pool side throughout the day. The food generally didn’t take too long to come out, however if you did happen to get there during a busy time and your food took slightly longer (naturally), however the staff keep you updated on the wait time.
With November being one of the hottest times to go, we spent most of our time by the pool. Pool staff are at your service the entire day bringing you ice cold water, fruit and restaurant menus.
On the second to last day is where things got good! To take the surprise to the next level, on our way to the spa, we made a quick stop at two double doors that read ‘PENTHOUSE’.
Much to my surprise, we had changed rooms and were spending our last night in the penthouse room. This was a two bedroom suite with a 270 degree panoramic view of the sea including our own private infinity pool, kitchen, dining room, two outdoor lounge areas and outdoor spa plus our very own private butler. The room also came with complimentary spa treatments each day if the room itself wasn’t enough!
All in all, the Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort & Spa is definitely at the top of my list of places I would recommend. The service was top notch, the accommodations were amazing and the food was delicious.
