I popped in here post yoga class to check out their menu. It was a Tuesday morning and the cafe was quite busy with several locals seated and customers grabbing a quick take-away coffee, which is always a good sign!
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
It was around 10:30am when I arrived to a fairly busy cafe and was able to grab a seat close to the coffee bar. Within a few minutes of sitting down, a menu was presented and coffee order taken. The space is inviting and homey, with black ceilings, simple cafe style tables and chairs and a few hanging plants. There is also a little outdoor alfresco area at the back, which I didn’t notice until I left.
FOOD
I was surprised at how big their menu was, offering a great range of classic brekky options, plus some amazing lunch dishes. I started with my usual Piccolo while I made my way through the menu. Unfortunately, the coffee I received was extremely bitter, almost to the point of not being able to drink it. I did notice that a lot of people had raved about their coffee, so hoping I just received an off cup that morning.
After a quick look through the menu, I decided to go with the ‘Smashed Avocado’ served on toasted sour dough, with crispy salad and blistering tomatoes. I think there was also some kind of dukkah mixture on top of the avocado, which I wasn’t a fan of. There’s also a few different options to add sides to the dish, so instead of poached eggs, I decided to order scrambled eggs, which were delicious.
Overall, breakfast was decent this morning. The service was fantastic from the moment I walked through the door, but the coffee was a let down. I might have to pop back in again and try another cup and hope for the best.
