We were fortunate enough to be staying close to Cafe am Neuen See, which was a short 15 minute from our hotel (Intercontinential Berlin). This restaurant/Cafe has received a lot of great reviews due to it’s versatility from day to night.
Located in the beautiful Tiergarten, surrounded by trees and a peaceful small lake, this is your go to place to enjoy a coffee or bier of your choice. The outdoor setting can be enjoyed year-round with ample seating in their bier garden area. Or if the weather is a bit too chilly, the indoor restaurant features a beautiful rustic setting with dining by candle light.
We arrived quite early in the morning so opted to sit inside where it was toasty warm. Inside is more romantic with old white wooden tables and chairs, unpolished wooden floors and a beautiful rustic bar with a log fireplace to warm up the interior. This is the perfect place to enjoy a cold winters morning with a hot cup of coffee and a home cooked breakfast.
On the other spectrum, there’s the large outdoor bier garden with rows and rows of traditional long bench seating, large overgrown trees and a beautiful peaceful lake which paddle boats for hire. I can definitely see this space filling up during the afternoons and evenings with people enjoying a few steins of beer.
Although I’m not the biggest beer fan, the cafe/restaurant I fell in love with from the moment we walked through the door. It was extremely cosy and inviting with rustic touches throughout. Wood covered the interior from the walls to the ceiling to the bar were all finished in polished wood.
