Machine Laundry Cafe is one of those trendy places that really don’t need to try to hard to attract a busy crowd. With a winning concept, there is always a line up of both locals and visitors waiting for a quick bite. The name says it all, this is a coin laundromat/cafe where you can get your laundry done and get a cheap bite to eat while you wait.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
Inspired by the 50s, this retro cafe takes you back to the good ole days of cheerful colours, vintage tableware and upbeat music playing. With a working laundry mat connected, here you will find people enjoying a quick bite to eat or coffee on mismatched furniture both inside and out, while they pass the time waiting for their clothes. Fortunately we didn’t have to wait too long before being seated inside hear the kitchen.
The service was welcoming and friendly. We were promptly seated, water and glasses given and coffee orders taken straight away. Within a short time, both our coffees and food arrived to the table.
FOOD
The menu is based around delicious diner style foods like bacon & eggs, pancakes and of course, milk shakes! To start our morning, we ordered a round of coffees and a thick chocolate milk shake (which MC ended up pouring his coffee into!).
MC ordered the ‘Egg Benedict’ with poached eggs, bacon, hollandaise sauce on fresh sourdough. Served on a cute old rose coloured plate, this was a simple dish, yet full of flavour.
I ordered the ‘Machine Made Muesli’ with toasted nuts, seeds & grains, poached pear and topped with natural yoghurt. The selection of nuts, seeds and grains used were filling for the small portion size and the poached pear was a delicious added touch.
This was such a great little find! I love that they do simple things well without making them complicated. The vibe was upbeat and loved how the staff seemed to genuinely love their jobs. Definitely worth checking out.
