This year marks the 31st annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival, which has quickly become one of the three largest festivals worldwide.
With a variety of events including stand-up comedy, street performances, visual arts, radio, cabaret and theatre shows, the festival takes over Melbourne with 630,000 plus attendees, which has become Australia’s ‘comedy capital’.
The event runs for 3 and a half weeks, running through more than 100 different locations throughout the Melbourne CBD and surrounding suburbs. You’ll find international superstars Tim Key and Milton Jones hit the stage, alongside a large number of local and international talent.
Tickets are available at all price points, from free amateur shows up to $30-$40 for the more well know comedians. If you’re looking for something for the whole family, the festival also has a variety of kids events throughout the 3 week period.
You will find a range of restaurants in the CBD who are hosting ‘pre-comedy’ dinners at 5/5:30pm, which will ensure you are out by the time your show starts.
