Coming from Melbourne, I know a good cafe when I see one, and One on La Balsa Cafe is just that! We regularly visit the area every few weekends, and every Sunday, this is where you will find us. It’s a local gathering spot, where everyone knows everyone, and finding a table is a mission as it’s the only cafe in the area. This isn’t a fancy, modern cafe, but more a beautiful quaint beachy cafe.
The beverage ranges from strong coffees to tasty seasonal fresh smoothies. Since this is a very active community, they also have delicious protein shakes on the list to hit every clientele.
Their menu isn’t extensive, but has all your favourites including a few options for the kiddies. I usually stay safe and go with the boring poached eggs on toast, however the Dukkah Eggs caught my eye this time. This is definitely a must try! The dukkah isn’t overpowering and works very well with the avocado, eggs and a hint of lemon flavour.
Also ordered was the Lemo’s Big Breakfast, which is a usual order for us. Eggs cooked to perfection and sausage as tasty as it gets. Portion sizing is generous and you always leave feeling satisfied.
The staff are extremely helpful and are always pleasant. If there isn’t a table available for you when you first arrive, they make it their mission to ensure the wait isn’t too long. Take away is another great aspect of the cafe. For those who don’t have time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere, a quick coffee and pastry to go is always available.
The view is beautiful and quite peaceful in the mornings. Since they aren’t pet friendly (which I’m quite happy with), there are always a hand full of dogs tied out front lying in the shade.
This is definitely in my good books for places to visit along the sunny coast. The food, atmosphere and service are all perfect and very much laid back.
