We ended up here on a warm Spring night for a drink after work while deciding where to head for dinner. We had been here for drinks before, and every time we come the place is full, making it impossible to find a seat. On this occasion, we managed to grab a seat as someone was just getting up to leave and jumped on it before anyone else could. While enjoying our drinks, the waitress walked by with dishes of amazing smelling food and after much debate, we decided to just grab something simple here.

FOOD

The menu is quite small with a hand full of pub style dishes and a variety of daily specials to choose from. As we weren’t overly hungry, we decided to go with an entree to share and a main dish each. The daily special of ‘Crispy Fried Chicken’ served with sweet sauce was a no brainer for the type of food we were looking for, which could have been triple fried by the crunch it packed.

For mains I went for something a bit different from my usual and got the ‘Sweet onion and Goat’s cheese Tart’, served with mixed tomato, candied walnut, grilled eggplant and rocket salad. The candied walnut was definitely my favourite part of the dish and was the winning ingredient to bring all the flavours together.

MC went with the ‘Pork Schnitzel’ served on a ciabatta bun with mayo, slaw and apple chutney. Although amazing, it looked a bit lonely on the plate and could have used a side of chips or simple garden salad.
