With a day full of errands, I was in need a bit of refuelling before finishing the last bit of running around. I was in the Chapel/Greville Street area and thought I would pop into St Edmonds Cafe for a quick bite to eat.
ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE
Located just off Greville Street, I was drawn in by the colourful geometric graffiti that are painted on the front of the building. Here you will find two separate areas; the first is their main cafe with large coffee bar and a hand full of tables. The second is their funky outdoor dog friendly courtyard, with ample potted plants, wooden accents and comfy outdoor furniture.
I opted to sit inside where concrete floors fill the space, light wooden benches and large windows brought in loads of natural light. I did find the tables a bit too close together, making it difficult to squeeze through to the bench seating. The service was friendly and very attentive with the waiter coming to the table as soon as we were seated.
FOOD
I was in desperate need of some caffeine, so ordered a Piccolo as soon as I sat down while I tried to decide if I wanted breakfast or lunch. The menu is full of delicious healthy options from super salads to green smoothies to an endless option of eggs.
It didn’t take long before deciding on the ‘Energy Boost Bowl’ with quinoa, brown rice, puy lentils, almonds, feta, rocket, house dressing, harissa (chilli) and finished with spicy beef strips. I was so impressed by this salad, the beef was cooked perfectly, there was a slight kick from the chilli, which was balanced by the creaminess from the feta. Everything in this dish worked so well together.
Overall, I’m so glad I needed a break and popped into St Edmonds Cafe! I’m not craving another serve of this super salad, which I may need to head back for sooner than I anticipated!
