Our Sunday afternoon always starts with lunch in South Melbourne followed by our weekly market spree at the South Melbourne Markets. Since it was a sunny day, we thought we would try and find somewhere to sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze and sun on our face. We came across The Blue Room and it was fairly busy so thought we would give it a go.

FOOD

We started with the ‘Mezze for 2’, which included a selection of saganaki, meatballs, calamari and Morocco chicken skewers. I was quite surprised at what we had actually gotten for $25. The plate looked empty with only a few pieces of calamari, 3 tiny meatballs and two skewers.

Once we finished our tiny plate of entrees, pizza was quick to follow. We each ordered a different pizza to share to get a bit more variety. Their menu states that they have ‘Famous Award Winning Pizzas’ to choose from. They were quite tasty, however they were all quite simple and nothing really stood out from the standard pizzas you find at other pizza joints. The crust however was beautiful!

SERVICE

This was the shocker of the afternoon, which is maybe why I wasn’t blown away by their pizza. The service 100% let down the entire experience and our afternoon. We were served by one of the rudest waitresses we have ever experienced. There was not one smile, limited conversation and almost avoided our table all together.

Unfortunately this is the only reason we will not be coming back or recommending these pizza’s to anyone.
